Again apologies for the lacking content. But as I have been saying in every post recently i have been having a tough time at the tables😀.

Basically since making my downswing video things didn’t get any better. I just decided I need to take break and not think about poker for awhile…
So my and my buddy LiftGrind decided to travel around Europe for a few weeks. It was a bunch of fun, great to travel super light, away from the computer and pokerstars client, and experience more of the beautiful world around us. I made this video recapping some of the cool stuff we got up too.🙂

With downswings and time off in mind, as much as i hate to say it this is officially where I throw in the towel on the Supernova Elite chase…😥

I have around 550k vpps right now but I just haven’t been able to snap out of it and recover from my downswing. I’m regrouping at lower stakes until i feel as confident to beat higher as i once did. I think this is going to result with around 800k vpps for the year ( the idiot amount😀 ) but it is what it is. I have still made a lot of money so far and there is still a bunch of time left. It’s not going to be the huge year I was hoping for but I’m not going to have to get a job at McDonald’s anytime soon either. This has been pretty hard for me to accept, I really hate to say I’m going to do something and not see it through but a step back is best thing for me . Right now I’m back in Mexico and I just want to focus on getting my mind, body and soul back in order and spend a bit less time grinding.

Hey guys!
I’m sorry I have been neglecting you. A lot of you have been messaging me and contacting me where’s the latest vlog and where’s the double vlog is that I promised at the start of this month.

Well unfortunately I don’t have it for you today but I want you to know that I hear you. Honestly I have been having a pretty tough time since leaving Cuba/Mexico and moving to Budapest. Mentally my brain has been pretty tangled up by things not going so well. I’ve been focusing my energy into sorting this out and getting back to feeling good about grinding. The vlog is on the back burner but I just need a little bit more time before I’m ready to put it out there.

As part of my mental therapy I decided to ‘face my fears’ so to speak and make a short film that represents a bit of what I have been going through every time I sit down to play the past few weeks. If you are a 200 or 400nl cash regular on pokerstars you might understand some of the jokes a bit better then most but I think almost every poker player can relate to sometimes feeling like this.

So had one last night in Mexico before packing up and heading off to Cuba for a little holiday from grinding.

Cuba is a really interesting country, it has a unique political history. There aren’t really many places like it it the world. I would recommend seeing for yourself if you ever have the chance. Probably the best way to explain it is like going back in time… All the cars are really old, there is no internet at all, if you go to the supermarket it is pretty much just the raw basics aside from a few companies that’s scrape in. ( RedBull😀 ) The cuban people are pretty poverty stricken. The government pay for their education and medical needs, gives them (dilapidated) housing and a tiny amount of money for basic living. This system virtually keeps them imprisoned to Cuba.

There isn’t a whole lot for the people to do so they tend to hang out in the streets.

While (poorly) attempting to dance some salsa in the street, we met this couple that started to give us some tips. We started to talk with our new friends Anna and Jorge. Jorge could speak some basic English, decently better than I would expect. He told us about his life and what it is like living in Cuba. He’s lived in the same house with his family his whole life, the same house his grandmother died in and the same house his mother died in😦 He works as a brick layer and does a lot of reading. He knew a bit about Australia and asked me some questions about my travels. It was pretty sad, he was saying how he would love to see some more of the world be will never be able to.

Went to check out some other things in the city, saw a traditional Cuban salsa dance show, it was good fun.

Headed across the coast to have a couple of days in the more touristy part of Cuba, Varadero. It was nice to relax there and not think about anything internet or poker related.

I had a really good experience in Cuba. Seeing how others are living their really puts in perspective how fortunate I am. Not just in the sense that I am a successful in what I do. But even to have been born in a first world country into a ‘normal’ loving family. It really makes you appreciate your life on another level.

I then flew (over the Bermuda triangle😀 ) to London for a brief visit. Was nice to see some friends again, after couple of days on the couch I finally made it to my new home of Budapest Hungary. Settling into the apartment is going well nothing much to report as of yet. I will make the vLog for the past 2 months tomorrow.

Hey!🙂

I apologize for the lack content on this blog recently, first monthly vlog I have missed in awhile, I have been a little bit busy with some non poker things as well as a long tough stretch at the tables. I promise I will make a double vlog covering both months at the end of this month.

As for everything else, our time in Mexico is coming to an end. It’s been really fun out here, definitely the first time living overseas has really felt like a new home and not just an extended holiday. I’m going to take a bit of time of poker and relax for the remainder of the month. I’m heading off for a little holiday in Cuba in a few days time which is exciting. Then I will visit London briefly before settling into a new home in Budapest, Hungary.

We did what’s known as a centurion with all our friends here in Playa as a bit of a going away party. Basically the rules are you need to drink 1 shot of beer once a minute for 100 minutes. Pretty much everyone completed it and a loose night followed.

HEY!

Managed to hit 400k VPPS yesterday :)

Sorry my updates have been kind of lacking recently, the truth is have been grinding really hard and having kind of a stressful time. I think I am experiencing what a lot of players like to call “burn out”. I have been steadily grinding out of a big downswing over the past 2 weeks and things are going ok. But I think honestly I have been pushing myself slightly too hard, playing so many hours is ok for me, I love to play so much, every day when I wake up I can’t wait to get grinding. But recently I have been making a lot of stupid mistakes, timing out with the nuts, not taking proper time to think before a big decisions and the stress has just been compacting upon itself. I think the main problem has been that I have been playing too many tables. Right now I’m still 100% confident I will make SNE, as of now I’m about 2 weeks ahead of pace. I think what I really need to do is just chill out a little bit, play less table and really think a bit longer for all my actions.

Hey!🙂

So today we decided to trek out to visit Chichén Itzá. We hired a van and off went went, it’s about 3 hours from Playa Del Carmen.

After a fun drive (on the wrong side of the road😉 ) we had arrived🙂

Aside from the star attraction and official feature on the “7 wonders of the world” list there was a lot of interesting things to see and learn about the Mayan people.

It was a cool place to visit and a fun day out. Apart from that the grind has been going well, not too much to report, doing really well at 400 and gaining the vpps at a nice steady pace.

HEY! :)

So have been easing off the hard grind this past week to see a few of the lovely places Mexico has to offer. Headed down to Tulum to check out the beautiful beaches and see some of the Mayan Ruins.

Then it was off to this small town near Bacalar and stayed at this really cool place right on the lagoon. It was nice to get away from the touristy side of things and hang out at a cool spot with some of the locals🙂 .

The following day was off to Bacalar to another lagoon. This one is really amazing with all the colours in the water

And then back to the Playa grind. Our favorite restaurant.

HEY!🙂

So we decided to take a break from grinding and head up to Cancun to check out what goes on during spring break…

It was surreal. Everything I have ever seen and heard from American movies was true. Within in a few minutes of being at a beach/pool party there is a topless girl lying on the bar screaming out for more bodyshots! lol :D

The night clubs were popping off as well. Although that wasn’t quite as much fun as the daytime parties. It brought back memories of the feeling you get in Vegas when everyone is out to scam you. After buying a few fake club wristbands and d7o1d1s0 getting his phone pick pocketed, we were ready to head back to peaceful relaxing Playa😀

Other then that things are going well. Grinding out my heavy volume while enjoying the beach life :)
